To San Antonio residents, the AT&T Center is a very familiar destination...a multi-purpose
indoor arena that sees basketball games, ice hockey matches, concerts, and many local community and sporting events,
it’s probably fair to say that every person living there has visited the arena atleast once in their lifetime!
Arena Trivia
The arena first opened its doors back in 2002 as the SBC
Center. This facility was developed as the Alamodome, the original venue of the
San Antonio Spurs’ home games, became unsuitable for the team and their fan’s
expanding needs and a new venue became necessary. It was only in January 2006
that the arena was officially renamed the AT&T Center.
Those who call the AT&T Center Home
Given the nature of the space, many spectacles have been hosted
here since the venue opened. The years have seen electrifying live performances
by powerhouses like Aerosmith,
Madonna, Bon Jovi, The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and many others.
There are however, a few showstoppers that claim the AT&T
Center as home - 5-time NBA
champions San Antonio Spurs, AHL (American Hockey League) team San Antonio
Rampage, and WNBA team San Antonio Stars all play their home games here.
Besides these annual basketball and hockey commitments, the
AT&T Center also hosts the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo,
Xtreme Bulls tour, Built Ford Tough Series, and Bud Light River City Rockfest.
What’s Up at the AT&T Center In the Next Week or Two?
